The exam in brief
- 170 questions: 140 scored and 30 unscored pretest items you cannot identify, so every question counts.
- 110 closed-book questions in 2 hours 45 minutes, a 45-minute break, then 60 open-book questions in 3 hours 45 minutes. Once the open-book section starts, the closed-book questions cannot be re-entered.
- Passing is a scaled 400 on a 200-500 scale. API publishes no percentage, and this kit does not invent one: a full exam result shows your raw percentage in every Body of Knowledge part.
- Written to the February and June 2027 effectivity sheet (API 570 5th Edition; ASME B31.3 2024 Edition; RP 571, RP 576 and PCC-2 in the examinable parts), the sheet for the February and June 2027 windows. ASME B31.3 is the construction code behind API 570; RP 571, RP 576 and PCC-2 are examinable only in the sections the sheet names.

How access works
All paid items are online and view-only in your logged-in account. There are no files to download. Questions are served one at a time in the exam simulator, the drills and the question-bank reader; the notes, worked examples and calculation drills open page by page in a reader, and flashcard figures show inside the flashcards. Every page and figure carries your details. Accounts are for one person and cannot be shared; read the personal licence.
Why these questions are demanding
We do not claim they are harder than anyone else's, because you cannot check that. Here is what you can check.
- The real split. Every question is tagged closed-book or open-book, and the six exams run 110 closed-book questions, the break, then 60 open-book questions, each half on its own clock. The open-book half trains the skill the exam rewards: finding the right requirement in the right document quickly.
- Field decisions, not definitions. Each question puts you in front of a decision an inspector has to make: which rate governs, which interval applies, whether a repair needs a new procedure qualification, what a reading means.
- Calculations with the arithmetic shown. Corrosion rates, remaining life, intervals, thickness and pressure problems, each worked step by step in the 60 worked examples, then 60 short-answer calculation drills to practise on paper, with every number recomputed in code.
- Audited against the Body of Knowledge. Every question was checked against the published Body of Knowledge and the referenced code editions; wrong keys were fixed and out-of-scope items replaced before the kit was built.
- Checked for repeats across the whole bank. A reworded copy, or the same question with new numbers, is blocked.
- Every question explained. Why the right answer is right and where the wrong options go wrong, in that scenario.
Who wrote it
Sandeep Bandyopadhyay. Twenty years on engineering projects at Boeing, GE Aviation, Siemens Gamesa and ITER. The questions are drafted with AI assistance and audited against the published Body of Knowledge and the referenced codes; every number in the worked examples is recomputed in code.
What we promise
We do not promise that you will pass. The exam depends on your preparation and on the day. We promise original questions in the real closed-book and open-book format, written to the current effectivity sheet, and an explanation for every question.
API 570 kit FAQ
I already bought the API 570 practice tests. Do I get the kit?
Yes, automatically and at no extra cost. Sign in and open My account: the kit is there, and your six original practice tests stay where they were.
What does the kit add to the practice tests?
The six exams now run in the real rhythm (closed book, the break, open book) with a result per Body of Knowledge part, and you get 42 drills, question-bank practice by part and by book, 158 pages of study notes with 30 figures, 60 worked examples, 60 calculation drills, 400 flashcards, a 30-day plan and a readiness tracker.
Is the exam simulator timed like the real exam?
Yes. 110 closed-book questions in 2 hours 45 minutes, a 45-minute break, then 60 open-book questions in 3 hours 45 minutes, each half on its own clock. When the open-book half starts, the closed-book questions are closed for good, as at the test centre.
What score do I need to pass?
API reports a scaled score (pass 400 on a 200-500 scale) and publishes no percentage, so the kit does not claim one. Each full exam shows your percentage in every Body of Knowledge part. The readiness tracker's target, 75% overall and 60% in every part on two consecutive full exams, is our study target, not an API figure.
Can I download the notes or the questions?
No. All paid items are online and view-only in your account, with your details on every page. Only the free cheat sheet, the free 7-day plan and the free 20-question sample can be downloaded or opened without an account.
Which exam windows and code editions is the API 570 kit written for?
The February and June 2027 windows, which use the February and June 2027 effectivity sheet (API 570 5th Edition; ASME B31.3 2024 Edition; RP 571, RP 576 and PCC-2 in the examinable parts). Check API's certification page for the sheet of the window you book.
